On Christmas Eve, a client experienced intermittent power failures at their laboratory facility, directly impacting their -20°C and 4°C cold rooms. With temperature stability compromised, the integrity of their stored materials was at risk. To properly assess and resolve the electrical issue, the client needed to fully empty both cold rooms.
The timing made the situation more complex. With the holiday underway, key personnel were unavailable and many service providers were difficult to reach. The client required an immediate, reliable solution to protect temperature-sensitive materials while maintaining access and compliance, despite limited internal resources and an uncertain repair timeline.
Tobin responded immediately. Despite the evolving nature of the situation and limited details at the outset, the team mobilized a range of temperature-controlled assets to stabilize the environment.
Freezers were transferred into Tobin’s refrigerated generator trailer units to maintain -20°C conditions with continuous, monitored power. Larger materials that could not be accommodated in standard freezer units were relocated into Tobin’s Mobile Cold Room trailers, which were positioned onsite for easy access.
By deploying multiple trailer types and configuring them to the client’s specific storage needs, Tobin created a temporary but secure cold storage environment. The rapid mobilization minimized temperature excursions and prevented further disruption, all while allowing the client to focus on diagnosing the root cause of the facility power issue.
With only a skeleton crew available over the holidays, the client was unable to fully troubleshoot the electrical problem until after the New Year. What began as an urgent, short-term emergency extended into a much longer recovery effort. Ultimately, repairs took nearly two months.
Throughout that entire period, Tobin’s trailers remained onsite. The client retained continuous access to their materials, and all storage conditions were maintained without interruption. Tobin adjusted to the evolving timeline without requiring the client to reconfigure their plan or relocate materials again.
The result was operational continuity during a critical failure. No materials were lost, compliance standards were upheld, and the client was able to resolve their infrastructure issues without compounding risk. Tobin’s responsiveness and flexibility turned a holiday emergency into a controlled, manageable situation.
Tobin provided RGT until a technician was able to service a client facility.
